Pius Xolela
Pius Xolela Lamla is a distinguished insurance and investment professional with extensive expertise in construction and fuel guarantees, infrastructure, and mineral resource projects. As Legal and Contract Director for Projects & Mineral Resources at the Infra-Fin Advisory Institute, he leads domestic investment promotion and fosters strategic partnerships between leading financial institutions—including insurers, institutional investors, and development finance organisations—within the mineral resources and large-scale infrastructure ecosystem.
Over the course of his career, Pius has consistently demonstrated an exceptional ability to bridge the worlds of underwriting and strategic investment. At Refine Underwriting Managers (Pty) Ltd, he served as Senior Underwriter, managing complex portfolios, conducting rigorous financial and credit analyses, and authorising guarantees and facilities worth tens of millions of rand, while contributing to the Credit Committee on major approvals. Prior to this, as Underwriting Manager and Senior Underwriter at Construction Guarantee (Pty) Ltd, he led a team of underwriters, oversaw client engagements, and ensured the successful delivery of performance, retention, and bid bonds. Earlier roles at SGI Guarantee Acceptances, Absa Consultants and Actuaries, and Accolade Financial Management Services further honed his skills in underwriting, fund administration, and client relationship management.
Pius holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from UNITRA (Walter Sisulu University), complemented by professional certifications including the FAIS Regulatory Exam and Pastel Accounting training. His academic and professional foundation underpins his expertise in financial analysis, portfolio management, and risk assessment.
