The academic contributing factor was the establishment of Nelson Mandela University’s Infrastructure Development and Engagement Unit, which envisions itself as the epicentre of an industrialised Africa and a conduit for Africa to resolve its infrastructure financing problems.
Moreover, InfraFIN has developed into a premier consulting firm that provides mining and commercial engineering brokerage and is expanding throughout Europe, especially in the Netherlands. InfraFIN’s enhanced experience stems from the added talent’s background in structural financing for economic growth, sustainable tourism, and conservation. Thus, these developments oriented InfraFIN toward international investment promotion, forging strategic partnerships with recognized EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) firms and investors in large infrastructure projects and minerals.
With this international exposure and the prospects created by the African Continental Free Trade Agreement, engineering finance services are sought to support the continent’s envisioned industrialization. To practicalize geographical trickle-down economics, InfraFIN is partnering with an insurer registered with the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA). This enhances InfraFIN’s construction expertise to focus on the challenges faced by emerging contractors when seeking financial security “guarantees” to perform their projects. Thus far, InfraFIN has linked the value chain of infrastructure economics from the MEGA infrastructure project to the sustainability of emerging contractors, inclusively to the benefit of economic growth in the domiciled nations of operation.

As the contractor displays the necessary engineering knowledge, the collaboration provides financial solutions to mitigate the project’s total risk, arising from the contractor’s bankability limitations.
In addition to Credit Guarantees, engineering supervision is included to insulate the infrastructure project, the EPC, and the emerging contractor from risk.
