Trevor Xola Mketi
Trevor Xola Mketi is a highly experienced defence policy and governance professional whose career in South Africa’s Department of Defence spans more than 30 years. From his early roles in media liaison and education management to senior leadership in strategic policy and defence industry governance, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the country’s defence industrial framework, procurement systems, and international defence relations.
Most notably, Trevor served as Director: Defence Industry Governance, where he oversaw compliance, governance, and industrial participation frameworks that directly influenced South Africa’s defence sector. His leadership extended to representing the Department at major intergovernmental and industry platforms, including the Aerospace, Maritime and Defence Conference, where he consistently championed the strengthening of local defence capabilities and the advancement of transformation within the sector.
